Michaelmas Cay, Cairns

Categories: Islands, Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web
An important breeding site for terns, Michaelmas Cay is a protected area teeming with life. The terns are sometimes joined by turtle species that nest along the cays. These nesting sites are a vital resource for scientists studying these species, and you'll often see photographers snapping photos or scientists jotting down notes. The area where the birds live is densely vegetated due to the abundant bird droppings (an excellent fertilizer), in contrast to the rocky terrain of the rest of the cays. • Spectacular place! The clarity of the water and marine life is to take your breath away, to make a pun ... Worth experience. Look for one of several boat companies that take over there. There's no chance of repentance, the place is beautiful.

  • Very well organized tour. The boat had a normal occupation, which gave time for calm and relaxation all activities. Excellent small underwater boat ride, where corals, giant clams and sea turtles can be seen. Good place for snorkeling and whale watching species. Good lunch, everything clean and organized. Very good walk. In particular, our guide Maria was a spectacular Companion.
