Green Island, Cairns
(3.7/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
A visit to Green Island will bring you to the tropical paradise on the Great Barrier Reef. Just 27 km (17 mi) offshore from Cairns, this small, sandy island formed on the surface of a coral reef. Snorkel and dive in the cool waters over colorful coral and sealife. Go on a glass-bottom boat or semisubmerged submarine to see the underwater views of starfish, turtles, shells, and fish. Follow the boardwalk through the thick, emerald rainforest to reach the crocodile farm. Rent a locker for your belongings at the island, so that you can explore the place without worry. • Every year my entire family head over to Green Island for a weekend getaway. The secret is to stay the night! Once everyone leaves, the island puts on a champagne sunset and you have the beach all to ...  more »
  • It's all here, swimming, snorkelling, have a walk, lunch, glass-bottom boat, semi-sub and more. All ages can do this trip and be active or not, something for everyone.

  • It's one of those place to experience the nature. And a unique aspect of nature at that. While the nature is innocent and breathtaking, the desire to be profitable is the opposite. While the tour companies themselves are fine and doing the best they can. The island management has overlooked a lot of things. For example there are not enough toilets neither change rooms. This tells a bit about where their priority is. There is possibly a few hundred people on the island at any given time, we could only find two showers. What are they thinking.
  • Snorkelling was great and close to the beach. Rooms are well kept and in lovely condition. Resort has a private pool, and you are welcome to use a publicly available pool. Day trippers come about 9:30 and leave about 4:30 which makes it busier but by no means unbearable. Daily activities are great which normally includes nature walks, fish feeding, sunset drinks and kids activity. Most activities and equipment are included.Breakfast is great. A few different options for lunch (standard fare), but dinner, doesn't offer much variety. Restaurant for dinner is trying to be top notch but misses the mark. There are other dinner options but all dinner options get a bit expensive. This is what made it a four rather than a five. Don't get me wrong I had a great time, the weather, snorkelling, activities were all to notch. Look around and you should be able to find a deal that works for you.
  • Beautiful surrounds, wonderful activities. Nothing quite like snorkeling with turtles, and experiencing the reef. The resort is wonderful.
  • Friendly and helpful staff, fast smooth boat ride to a beautiful island. Can just stand on the jetty and watch the willife. Huge clean room and large tasty meals.
  • The Coral was awesome and the facilitya were really nice
