Esplanade Lagoon Pool, Cairns

(4.6/5 based on 2,600+ reviews on the web)
Esplanade Lagoon Pool offers one of the best places to beat the Cairns heat. Look out on the Barrier Reef and Trinity inlet from this 4,800 sq m (51,666 sq ft) saltwater lagoon. The lagoon water is saltwater from the inlet run through a filtration system. The sandy perimeter provides material for sand castles, and kids can wade in the lagoon's shallow water. To relax, recline on the timber deck beneath a shady tree. To visit Esplanade Lagoon Pool and other attractions in Cairns, use our Cairns tour planner.

  • The Lagoon swimming pool complex is brilliant, it's a safe free space with lifeguards on duty. The showers and toilets are spotless The location is amazing.  more »

  • I'm envious of Cairns having a facility as great as the Esplanade Lagoon. It has a sense of safety with life-guards and positioned right next to the police station. It has great views, a stone's throw from the town centre, community events such as markets and aqua-zumba, and plenty of grassed areas and BBQ's to go around. Well worth spending a hot day here.
  • Great space to be in with many attractions - swimming pool (with lifeguards), water aerobics, public showers, fitness equipment and toilets, some BBQ areas right next to the ocean with a great view. When I was there they had an open market with great souvenirs. Most of these services were free - great! Gets very busy (and hot) depending on time of day. Great for families, an early morning walk/ jog.
  • So I am completely enthusiastically from this place. One has here a swimming-pool, 2 lifeguards, water aerobics, public showers and toilets, some grill stations for barbecue and right next to it the sea. When I was there, there was still an open air cinema. A few metres farther one still has public fitness devices... and the best is that it is free everything.
  • So much fun for the whole family. Great swimming facilities and a great place for a family BBQ. So much to do down here and plenty of grassed areas for picnics. The lagoon also hosts a market. Also a great area for a run.
  • Great place to hang out on a relaxing day. Nice and refreshing pool with various depths. Great in the weekends, when locals also join the fun!
