Usually $ 5 admission was free! Is becoming a free admission on a regular basis, but when will do is unknown. By the way I did is 8-1 Saturday. Picture is pretty sad picture and was shocked. What could I don't know or haven't read the explanatory text, so why depicts a picture like this picture would be like it was. It is because after cooling had to cold.

Guess indigenous art is not for all. Anyone who has read a bit of history will know white people were also put in chains and treated poorly. Chains were not uncommon in what was after all a penal colony. Indigenous Australians often did stuff that people in England were hung for. I suggest you read Marcus Clarke's for the term of his natural life. The exhibition gives a bit of a one sided racist view. Many Australian's were treated poorly. it was an ugly time. One we need to put behind us. A depressing exhibition which leaves a lasting negative opinion of Cairns.

Amazing gallery for small town. The artwork is unique and worth seeing it, mainly Australian with overseas inspirations. Very interesting life stories of the artist. It has also a very interesting gallery shop.

Charming old building making good use of exhibition space. Front of house staff very helpful.

The postcolonial exhibition was very daring and in light of Australia's history utterly relevant.

Where to stay in Cairns

Though Cairns seems to offer an endless selection of cozy rooms, most budget-friendly options remain fully booked through the high season, stretching from June to September. Reserve early if you want a hotel room packed with amenities, or look for alternative lodgings in the city's smaller inns. As the backpacker capital of northern Queensland, Cairns features dozens of economical hostels providing comfortable beds and free Wi-Fi. For something far more luxurious, look for centrally located rental apartments with spacious rooms and harbor views.
