Run by a society, the gardens are beautiful year-round, but especially glorious in Spring. The on-site tearooms offer refreshments 9 months of the year, including a lovely Devonshire Tea. With a great...  more »

This a a stunning, serene, relaxing garden, even in Winter. The tranquility of the impeccably maintained gardens is evident right from the start. And look out for the resident platypus!  more »

  • Lovely spot to wander & wonderful volunteer-tended gardens. Good anytime of year, but best appreciated when the Rhododendrons are in full-bloom (check their website for updates). The on-site restaurant/cafe is good & they are an excellent choice for a large function.
  • Nice place To hang around especially during the blossom festival! It's a very special and beautiful place!
  • Lovely gardens well maintained with wonderful paths and features. Seems we just went at the wrong time as nothing was open, no one was there and there was no flowers to see. Pity.
  • If you are from the Pacific Northwest--like I am--you might have a prejudice against other rhody gardens. I admit I was comparing the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden in the beginning, but once I started exploring the grounds I had to admit that this rhody garden is (gasp) more spectacular than the rhody garden in Hendrick's Park in Eugene, Oregon. The views are spectacular from the centre building as well as in and around the gardens. The garden is grouped into areas of the world where the rhodies come from. For example, in one group the rhodies are from China. In another area there are rhodies from Japan. The guide is very knowledgeable about the plants and informative concerning the backgrund and history of this garden. The garden information centre also has a cafĂ©. They also have plants for sale if you live locally, but I think it would be very difficult to bring it back home. The best time of the year to view the rhodies are October and November. The garden is open daily from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening. Admission is AUS$10.
  • A credit to the vision, commitment and care of a host of retiree volunteers. A delight to wander through the varying elements, revealing the colour and charm of well-maintained gardens with abundant photo opportunities.
