Opened in 1981, the sprawling complex of sporting facilities encompassed by AIS - Australian Institute of Sport serves as an elite training and research center for Australia’s athletes. The 66 hectare (163 acre) site contains a 5,200-capacity indoor stadium capable of hosting concerts as well as sporting events. The whole campus is liberally scattered with a number of sculptures replicating the actions of a variety of athletes.   • It was a must see as hubby is totally obsessed with Anna Meares! We were way too early to have a tour and we didn't want to hang around. Would have loved to have seen more! It's a must do for the tour...  more »
  • Let's just say the the place lacked a bit of warmth and definitely not suitable for younger adults. Lots of rules and loud doors. Won't return. 
  • A must do for sports lovers. A mixture of some new facilities, eg tech swimming pool v old and original facilities from the 1980s. Try and get on early tour to be in a smaller group. Lots of parking o...  more »

  • I recently got a trial for socceroo's U15 and the instute helped me out. Hopefully I play for the socceroo's U15 in the next 24 months
  • If it's sport, it's here. It's a kid where most concerts take place im Canberra.. Free parking except when the big events / games / concerts take place.
