XXXX Brewery Tour, Brisbane

3.8
#2 of 10 in Breweries in Queensland
XXXX Brewery Tour introduces visitors to one of the city’s most iconic breweries, Castlemaine Perkins, home to the XXXX beer brand. This popular lager brand was first introduced in 1924, and its name is a throwback to the long standing tradition of using Xs to indicate the strength of an ale. On this tour you can see how a brewery that has been open since 1878 functions on a daily basis. See the production process by walking through the various sections of the brewery, and discover the 130 years of colorful beer history in this region. End you visit with a stop at the brewery’s bar, where you can taste all three of the popular XXXX lagers. When you go, go during the week as you won't see much happening on a week end as they shut down. It was good to have a look, and some of the old stuff was very interesting.  more »

  • Four of us took the tour 13/03/2017.Not advised in advance that the Brewery would NOT be operating due to staff training.Waste of money. Then when trying to enjoy a meal, FIRE ALARMS continued to sound driving us out of the restaurant.Absolute disaster of a day and four very disappointed visitors.Lift your game xxxxx and let clients know before hand when the brewery is not operating!!!!!! How about a refund ??
  • Great informative tour on the entire brewing process with a beer tasting at the end. Great staff and food as well!
  • Surprisingly enjoyable (unlike XXXX!) the tasting at the end includes XXX (three X) which is actually quite nice.
  • Food was not good at all. They don't sell spirits at the bar. And everything is really expensive.
  • Very interesting brewery tour. The beginning part was a bit long winded, but very informative. And it ends with a beer tasting!
