Story Bridge, Brisbane

4.4
Scale the top of Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge to enjoy 360-degree views of the city, mountain ranges, and Moreton Bay Islands at dawn, afternoon, or night. These climbing adventures are available daily. The tour guides, who are expert climbers, explain the route and monitor safety. Necessary equipment (including sunscreen, sunglasses, rain-resistant jackets, and hats) is provided. For visitors preferring to stay close to the ground, there are riverside walks nearby. These are especially popular at dusk, when the bridge is illuminated with purple lighting all around its edges. The bridge, which opened in 1940, is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. A visit to Story Bridge represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Brisbane trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • The panorama from the bridge of the city. Just for that you can walk on it, or better yet, ride a bike, so the bridge is fairly long. You can go as a single, and on the other side of the bridge-with some more like it.

  • Obviously not too comparable with ones like the Golden gate or Sydney harbor bridges, but still not a bad item to check off the to-do list when visiting. Great views of the river, and nice little eateries at the foot of the bridge as well.
  • You have to come here at night to view this lovely city. Great for photographers looking for some landscape inspiration
  • Very beautiful bridge. Dan over view the city on the side walk. Also connected to New Farm Walk path. You can spend a relaxing afternoon just walking between New Farm, Kangaroo Point, and the city.
  • Kudos to the Brisbane City Council for their 'Light Up Brisbane' initiative. The iconic Story bridge is used nightly to promote charities and events in the city by changing colour to reflect different themes. The LED lighting is capable of producing practically any colour, making the bridge a favourite for local photographers. Building started on the bridge in May 1935, and construction was completed 1940. Linking Fortitude Valley with Kangaroo Point, this bridge is heavily used for commuters every day. With the Story bridge able to be viewed from all around the city, from New Farm to the Gardens Point botanic gardens on the northside of the river, and from Mowbray park to Captain Bourke park on the south, there are plenty of places for photographers get a shot of this iconic bridge. Do yourself a favour and make a trip into the city to see what colour it is tonight!
  • Spectacular view of the city. You can walk, bike and even climb the bridge. The latter can be expensive if you are on a budget.
