St John's Cathedral, Brisbane
(4.4/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
A centralized cathedral that hosts diocesan events and maintains a diverse congregation of worshippers, St John's Cathedral is a church that also acts as a major center for culture. The cathedral boasts its own orchestra that holds concerts throughout the year along with a four manual pipe organ. The stone-vaulting creates a five-second reverberation when the organ is played making for particularly resonant concerts. • A lovely cool spot on a hot day to rest and enjoy the wonderful craftsmanship. A brilliant building no matter what your spiritual beliefs.
  • I viewed this from the outside only. The architecture is very pretty and draws one to the building. Good location.
  • we had heard about all the restoration work - loved the new stained glass windows and the stonework, particularly in the front entrance ceiling.

  • I recently attended this cathedral for a fashion runway show in the capacity of photographer. This was my first visit to the location, but much anticipated knowing that this cathedral is well liked by other photographers who have photographed weddings here. I was not disappointed by the interior of the cathedral. The architecture, arches, lead lights and other details throughout were simply stunning.
  • We stumbled upon this church on our first walk into Brisbane. It is gorgeous and a beautiful piece of history that tells a story through its stained glass windows. We were welcomed in and briefly told the history of the church by one of the volunteers. Definitely worth popping in to explore.
  • We were blessed to get married and hold our wedding reception inside this beautiful church. The sound of the organs playing and the wedding bells really added to the beauty of the ceremony. But waltzing the night away as newly weds under the great cathedral ceiling is something that we will never forget ❤️
  • A much grander building than the Catholic cathedral. I love all buildings that are built and dedicated to worship the most High God.
  • Beautiful cathedral, very nice organ too.
