Religious Site Tourist Spot
A centralized cathedral that hosts diocesan events and maintains a diverse congregation of worshippers, St John's Cathedral is a church that also acts as a major center for culture. The cathedral boasts its own orchestra that holds concerts throughout the year along with a four manual pipe organ. The stone-vaulting creates a five-second reverberation when the organ is played making for particularly resonant concerts. • Like so many Cathedrals of the world, it is difficult to photograph. Just a small tree but it blocks the view. No need to chop it down, just move it please!  more »

  • A grand old cathedral way better than that of the Catholic type. I was walking down te street when I stumbled upon this and my wife was so impressed by it she begged to go on. So we did, and it was fabulous! The antique collection of religious stuff was awesome! Would reccomend for religious people.
  • Great place to visit and to take in another aspect of Brisbane's history. It is amazing to think it took more than 100 years to build.
  • I recently attended this cathedral for a fashion runway show in the capacity of photographer. This was my first visit to the location, but much anticipated knowing that this cathedral is well liked by other photographers who have photographed weddings here. I was not disappointed by the interior of the cathedral. The architecture, arches, lead lights and other details throughout were simply stunning.
  • The most obnoxious church ever. Ringing a horrendous clamour of bells at all hours in the morning and in the evenings over the holiday period for over 30minutes each time. Good thing I'm not a permenant resident here or I'd be outside your church during mass hours blaring some satanic death metal (or whatever you'd most be offended by) to see how you like it. And I thought Religions teached courtesy and some sort of morality... Apparently not. I've only been here a week and you're driving me nuts - I just want to sleep!!! What assholes, cut the crap.
  • We stumbled upon this church on our first walk into Brisbane. It is gorgeous and a beautiful piece of history that tells a story through its stained glass windows. We were welcomed in and briefly told the history of the church by one of the volunteers. Definitely worth popping in to explore.
