New Farm Park is a public park in the suburb of New Farm in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The park covers 15ha and is at the southeastern end of the New Farm peninsula on a bend in the Brisbane River. The Powerhouse arts centre is at the eastern end of the park. The area was dotted by lagoons and waterholes, which the Aboriginals named Binkin-ba, meaning "place of the land tortoise".HistoryFollowing the founding of the convict settlement on the Brisbane River, the land on which the park now stands was initially a farm. A racecourse was built on the site in 1846, which operated until 1913, when the land for the park was acquired by the Brisbane City Council. The Queensland Governor Hamilton Goold-Adams conducted the official opening of the park, which was delayed until July 1919 because of World War I.The rotunda was built in 1915. It was part of the formal park work began by the Brisbane City Council in 1914. Other facilities included a croquet lawn, picnic areas, cricket wickets, tennis courts and football grounds.EventsFor a number of years the park was the finish line for both the short and long races in the Bridge to Brisbane. The park is also the location for the Queensland Pride fair day.

  • Nice park to relax in on the weekends. Visit the rose garden or for the kids to play. Many activities weekly. Run, ride or walk along the river.
  • This has to be the best park in Brisbane by far! It has everything from picnic spots, rotunda, gardens, and for kids: castles to tree to climb, dragon eggs to sit inside, even a built in Twister Game. Only downside is lack of parking but that's mainly because the entire park is so popular!
  • A great place to spend whether a weekend or weekdays with friends or families. Free bbq facilities are available and plenty of play ground for yourself and especially for your children. Free wifi adds more flexible.
  • Great place for weekend gatherings with friends. It does get pretty busy Saturdays & Sundays so best to get there early to reserve a table or barbecue.
  • Lovely park with spaces enough to accommodate everyone. Great spot for picnic, a stroll beside the river or just to admire the beauty of the roses. My favorite park in Brisbane so far.
