New Farm Park is a public park in the suburb of New Farm in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The park covers 15ha and is at the southeastern end of the New Farm peninsula on a bend in the Brisbane River. The Powerhouse arts centre is at the eastern end of the park. The area was dotted by lagoons and waterholes, which the Aboriginals named Binkin-ba, meaning "place of the land tortoise".HistoryFollowing the founding of the convict settlement on the Brisbane River, the land on which the park now stands was initially a farm. A racecourse was built on the site in 1846, which operated until 1913, when the land for the park was acquired by the Brisbane City Council. The Queensland Governor Hamilton Goold-Adams conducted the official opening of the park, which was delayed until July 1919 because of World War I.The rotunda was built in 1915. It was part of the formal park work began by the Brisbane City Council in 1914. Other facilities included a croquet lawn, picnic areas, cricket wickets, tennis courts and football grounds.EventsFor a number of years the park was the finish line for both the short and long races in the Bridge to Brisbane. The park is also the location for the Queensland Pride fair day.

  • Great place for everyone has a dog park within it. There is a moon light cinema, a cafe near the childrens play ground and bar on the river front, plenty of room for cricket, volley soccer and many other games. There are beautiful gardens. A great place to walk and exercise. Plenty of toilets. I recommend this place for every one.
  • Love this park. Right on the river with the city scape in the background. Lots of room to run around with the dog or the kids. Even when it's packed there's always a place to set up a picnic. Pretty good coffee available from the End of the Road cafe next to the ferry stop. The nicest toilets in the park are next to the cafe.
  • This park will always remain my favourite. You can picnic, walk along the Brisbane River, enjoy a coffee and let your kids go wild in the awesome playground which is nestled under some beautiful big trees.
  • Great looking park, very clean and lots of great people. Very kid friendly environment. I met up with a bunch of friends here for a Barbecue and we had a fantastic time. There was no trash anywhere and the lawns were all well maintained. This park is very well looked after and we will be coming back in the near future for sure.
  • Great place to take your family. Lots of open space as well. On Saturday mornings there is a market near Powerhouse.
