Trip Planner: South Pacific / Australia / Queensland / Brisbane Region / Brisbane / Gallery of Modern Art
The Queensland Art Gallery - Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery. Lots of levels, contemporary art. lots of video installations and immersion spaces. The kids enjoyed exploring, however properly for an older audience.

A lot of aboriginal art as you'd expect, some modern European art but not as much as I was hoping to see as I'm interested in all art not just one culture. The tours that explain the art are fab and free so definitely worth doing. You can spend as little as an hour to as long as you want here, depends on your taste. Not good for kids, please don't bring them, there's a café and there's big bag storage. Staff are very friendly.
Great selection of art and a brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. The gift shop also has some classics with unique covers which can be hard to find anywhere else. Reasonably priced too. Loved visiting, would definitely go back again ☺️
I love the exhibits artworks here, the modern art displayed is tasteful and refreshing unlike most "morderm art" in other museums which is literally trash. I also love how the galleries are setup and the flow of traffic is rather easy and the staff are really very polite and friendly. I wouldn't mind coming back here on the next chance I get to visit Brisbane
Great museum and we'll worth stopping past. We visited outside a peak exhibition, so would think it would be even better during an exhibition. Spacious and well curated. Will definitely head back when an exhibition is on. Update: definitely even more spectacular during a major exhibition.
Came here mostly for The Soul Trembles. Highly recommend the exhibition before it leaves in October 2022. Truly a breathtaking experience. Incredibly eerie and beautiful and sad and jarring and graceful and please go see it. Left me truly depressed which might have been the point. It was gorgeous. The rest of the gallery is also lovely and we'll curated. I am especially enamored with a certain perturbing elongated furby. Lovely little gallery. Was a joy to peruse.
