Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 50+ reviews on the web
Heritage-listed Customs House, originally built in 1889, underwent a full restoration in the 1990s, which included a complete reconstruction of the central staircase from locally sourced timbers. Expert craftsmen worked from original plans and designs, found in the State Library’s archives, to replicate the original construction as precisely as possible. This landmark building is known for its distinctive copper dome, black and white marble interior features, and an iron balustrade with the initials VR (for Victoria Regina) wrought on it in honor of Queen Victoria. No longer used as originally intended (for the collection of customs duties), the building hosts regular concerts, lectures, and special dinners, and includes a restaurant, function center, and an art gallery, located on the bottom floor. • The high tea was a wonderful experience. A beautiful setting and the food was beautiful. There was about 20 in our group and the service was excellent. I recommend this high tea!!
  • Great service and the food was really good! I had the market fish which was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice and quiet and it would be ideal if you wanted to take someone out for a special dinner. The location is really nice with a parking facility really close. Well worth a try if you are a local or visiting Brisbane.
  • This is by far the best wedding venue in Brisbane!!! From the booking to the planning to the execution, the staff at Customs House were consummate professionals who delivered the wedding reception of my dreams. They completely customised the menu for me, creating a banquet that far exceeded my expectations. The food was absolutely delicious and so plentiful. Rebecca Neubauer, the resident event coordinator could not be faulted. Her attention to detail was outstanding. I truly appreciated all of the time and energy she put into my event. She made all the difference. I also have to thank Andreas and his team who looked after us on the night. They were exceptionally attentive without being intrusive. It was wonderful not to have to worry about a thing as I knew they had everything covered. If you want a once in a lifetime wedding reception in Brisbane, look no further than Customs House.
  • Absolutely amazing food - what a beautiful old building this restaurant is housed in. The staff are lovely and courteous, and do their best to cater to every requirement.
  • We enjoyed a lovely meal at custom house for my 40th birthday! We had the gnocchi and 1.5 slow cooked roast lamb with kipfler roast potatoes, rocket n blue cheese salad, asparagus extra and cherry tomatoes, grilled zucchini! It was really something spectacular presentation was amazing the view was beautiful by the river with the storey bridge lit up behind us! Such a beautiful setting for an truly wonderful dining experience! Would highly recommend this place! The customer service was prompt attentive and very charming! Aaron the waiter was very helpful and had a great sense of humour all questions were answered and our meals were delivered to our table in a very prompt and high standard meal! Thankyou
  • What a shambles! Drinks orders forgotten, 40min wait just to order mains, two steaks went back for being way overcooked. Terrible service for a quiet night. Food is average, certainly not justifying the premium price. Overall an embarrassment to have taken guests there for a meeting.
