City Botanic Gardens
Enjoy an afternoon in Brisbane's premier public park. City Botanic Gardens offers 20 hectares (49 acres) of rare and unusual plant life, including cycads, Queensland nut trees, and jacarandas. Tour Bamboo Grove, stand over ornamental ponds, and view the "Jemmy Morrill and the Brolgas" sculpture. The Riverstage hosts numerous events throughout the year, so check the schedule before you come. Weekdays generally provide much more solitude than weekends do. How nice are these gardens. Lovely paths and trees to see. Good views to city and Kangaroo cliffs. Always something happening. Has Sunday markets, a few food vendors and stalls, including a farmers produce one. Plenty of space to watch the world go by

Up front I like to say, I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for some dangerous speeding cyclists. The main problem comes from private cycles and other battery powered contraptions. The riders of the pink and blue hire scooters were generally well behaved and moved close to the speed limit of 10km/h. Beware of big overweight people moving at high speed. A walk in the park could land someone in hospital with serious injuries. Apart from that, it would be a great place to relax and admire some of the big old trees and other flora.

Stayed in a hotel in the city just two blocks from the gardens and I came through here almost everyday. It's a beautiful place for a walk, run or ride. Once you're in there you would have no idea you're deep inside the middle of a bustling city. Then at night time some of the trees are lit up in the most spectacular way. It's nothing but beautiful. Really looking forward to coming back here with the kids and just spending half a day cruising around the gardens.

It is a nice quick getaway walk from the city centre. There is some step counter signs in the garden to cheer you up during your walk. It is a fascinating to see so many animals live in here. In one pond you can find ducks, iguanas, birds, and many other animals at once. The place is so peaceful, not so many crowd.
