The 'Friends of the Fitz' have been strong advocates for the protection and appreciation of the park, and for the advancement of research within the Biosphere, since forming in 1980.

Objectives

The objectives of the Friends of the Fitzgerald River National Park are:

• To promote the appreciation and enjoyment of the park in a manner consistent with its high conservation values and to promote, by example, appropriate use.

• To support and promote ecological studies within the park.

• To support the Fitzgerald Biosphere concept and the establishment of other reserves proximate to the park.

• To promote the position that any developments and activities in and immediately adjacent to the park be consistent with the protection of its conservation and landscape values.

• To liaise with the management bodies (e.g. Department of Parks and Wildlife) and provide support where appropriate.

• To maintain the Twertup Field Studies Centre.

  • This is a very pristine National Park with all its beautiful beaches, rugged coastline, bush and wildlife. New areas have been developed with easy access to all. Great camping locations under the tree...  more »
  • The Whales came out to play. Roads were good getting in. Camp sites ok. Facilities decent. Well worth the look.  more »
  • Unique and a must-do if you're in the region. There are a range of bushwalks in the parks so, even if some are closed due to weather conditions, you're likely to still find a way to enjoy this singula...  more »

  • Beautiful countryside and secluded beaches.
  • One of the best camping, trekking, beach experiences around - it doesn't get any better. But bring your fly mesh masks for the hot days! Kristy, road in from highway to pt Anne is good and camping facilities there are excellent.
