Lake Weeroona, a large ornamental lake adjacent to the Bendigo Botanical Gardens, is one of the area’s most popular tourist destinations. The lake's surroundings are home to many native species, including bush-tailed and ring-tailed possums, ducks, swans, coots, purple swamp hens, owls, and microbats. You can cycle or take leisurely walks on the paved paths around the lake, or spend the day picnicking on the grass. There are several playground areas near the water. Near the lake, you can also visit the renowned Bendigo Bank Tennis Complex, one of the largest such venues in the Southern Hemisphere.   • Very peaceful place. Lovely to walk the dog, have a picnic or just a cuppa overlooking the tranquil lake. Lunch at the Boardwalk cafe is also a delightful experience.  more »
