View one of Victoria's best collections of art at Bendigo Art Gallery. Founded in 1887, this gallery stands as one of Australia's oldest. Check the collections of 19th-century Australian and European art, two areas in which the gallery specializes. You'll also find contemporary Australian art, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, decorative arts, and photography. When you finish viewing, stop into the cafe for a bite; visitors speak highly of the food. The gallery puts on many temporary exhibitions throughout the year, so check its schedule while you're in town. • What a fantastic gallery! Great collection and amazing exhibitions. Loved the Marilyn Monroe exhibition! Will be back.
  • Well worth including in your itinerary if you're making a day trip to Bendigo, or having a weekend break. With a very eclectic range of pieces on display, there's plenty to discover.
  • Wonderful collection of paintings in a roomy gallery. Some aboriginal art too. Entry by donation.
  • Saw the Marilyn exhibit before it closed - but the Gallery itself is a wonderful spot to visit any time of the year.
  • The present exhibition on Chinese artists from China Hong Kong and Taiwan about ink is very inspiring and interesting! And permanent exhibition on arts is worth visiting. Friendly and helpful staff introducing what to see and do in Bendigo.
