  • we visited the gold museum after a day at sovereign hill, a very interesting exhibition as must see to finish off the day, we had overseas visitors who were not enjoyed the visit
  • This place was pretty cool. It was good seeing a museum take on the Ballarat Goldfields. I probably didn't appreciate it as much because I went straight after Sovereign Hill which was amazing!
  • The Museum tells the story of gold, many nuggets of gold, photos. There is a Hall with coins of different countries.

  • Visited museum. It was educational to go back to those times and get a sense of the drive to discover gold with the hardship they endured. What I would like to see improved is the lighting. I presume that the light has to be dimmed in order to preserve the items. The information plaques that are silver are very hard to read. Some display lights were not operational which I find disappointing. I also thought that there was nothing about the women in the gold rush. Overall we spent lovely family time discussing what we saw.
  • It was interesting with lots of details of the history of gold in Australia and around the world. The museum focuses on the gold rushes in Ballarat and Australia, but also shows modern uses of the material and it's alloys. Also shows foreign histories of Gold such as the Conquistadors and foreign currencies. Every now and then, a group of asian tourists would walk through taking photos everywhere, talking very loudly and walking in front of me to look at things which was pretty rude.
  • Good information about the history of gold mining, especially in Ballarat. It also has a cycling museum inside it with history of cycling in Australia. It was a very nice experience to visit both museums.
  • This museum told good history of Sovereign Hill gold mines
  • Had heaps of fun... Learnt heaps
