  • Went to the Gold Museum and saw alot of history in the Museum like tha way things were built and how gold was extracted to the gold that was pulled out of the mines and also how the Chinese influenced...  more »
  • Our grandchildren soaked up all the information they could. We spent a couple of hours just perusing the exhibits, trying to identify buildings, learning about the people who donated to the Museum.  more »
  • The gold Museum is across the street from the famous Sovereign Hill and with the same input, you can access the two. In my opinion it is best idea to first visit the Museum and then Sovereign Hill to go from least to most because even though the Museum has interesting parts its greater attraction is the enormous stones of gold which exhibits, and walk through the mining village is much better as a "last memory" visit.

  • THERE A RICH HISTORY OF THERE GOLD MINERS AND CHINESE ALSO A MUST SEE
  • Heritage Revisited. Great place to learn and see who built Victoria from the gold rush to recent times & the rocky path of multiculturalism.
  • A great museum for all ages. It's well laid out, and the displays aren't too busy so they're easy to read and interpret. There's a room with a big 360 degree photo of Ballarat in its early days, and it's fantastic. Its got some interactive features which really bring it to life. I loved looking at all the real gold on display. I'd highly recommend bringing international family and friends here, it's a great insight into Australian history.
  • Pretty cool collection, as a hobbyist coin collector, it's good to see the history of gold coins from around the world.
  • Wonderful Curators and staff...loved Chinese display hope it up fir a long time
