As you circle Lake Wendouree along the tree-lined path, you'll pass by Ballarat’s beautiful botanical gardens, as well as playgrounds, picnic areas, and several cafes. An old electric tram gives short, scenic rides. Wildlife is in abundance, and you will see freshwater fish, birds, and small animals. Used for the 1956 Olympic rowing events, the lake now hosts various regattas. Crews in boats of various shapes and sizes practice on the water throughout the year. Should you wish to join them, there are boat tours and boat rental facilities along the shoreline.   • Sharing the well worn path with other dog-walkers; joggers; pram pushers and cyclists it really is a joy to feel the breeze on your face and be greeted along the 6km walk around the lake, by fellow us...  more »

  • What a tranquil lake. Beautiful in everyway nature can gift. Walking track is 6km so take comfy shoes. Most enjoyable scenic walk I've had in a long time. Drinking fountains along the walk too
  • Very pretty and worth a visit, nice walk around the lake. Just beware of the flamingos, they are a tad sneaky around the lake.
  • Large lake with a beautiful surrounding promenade and birds at the central reserve. The tramway museum, yacht club, children's adventure park and gardens add to Ballarat's thriving lifeline
  • it's a beautiful lake , amazing scenery ... you can get a best coffee and enjoy it
  • Love this place...!!! I go here to Walk . Run . Ride. Kayak. Fish. Picnic. And I Bring friends and family here all the time. In fact I am here almost everyday and all year round so my may even see me there enjoying the lake either by myself or with one of my friends or family. If you see me stop and say hello .. Its a great place to come and relax in the beautiful surrounding's. The best place :)
