Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, Augusta

4.5
#2 of 15 in Things to do in Augusta
From atop the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, you can see where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Standing at 39 m (127 ft) high, this famous maritime landmark is the tallest on the Australian mainland. Climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse and get a flavor of how lighthouse keepers lived. Bring a warm jacket but leave your hat so the wind doesn't blow it away. • They were still in the midst of renovations but mostly done. The self guided tour is good as you can stop at the well written points of interest to learn about the history. I spent a good 45 minutes there marvelling at the cape and trying to imagine the life then. Staff were friendly and the radio's provided for the tour were good. Much much better than cape naturaliste lighthouse.
  • Absolutely stunning lighthouse with great spots to observe the ocean with the provided binoculars. Staff is also super friendly and ready to give som additional information about the place.
  • This place may be a bit isolated as it's the place where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean but it's worth a visit. Amazing history and a nice tea room and souvenir shop. Think of all the sailing ships that passed this point, hence the name.
  • Where 2 oceans meet. Very windy and cold but the view was quite spectacular especially from the top of the lighthouse. Explore the surrounding and you could find some interesting spots to take photos.
  • There is something fascinating about lighthouses and this one is a great place to visit at the meeting of the two oceans.
