Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, Augusta

4.4
#2 of 14 in Things to do in Augusta
From atop the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, you can see where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Standing at 39 m (127 ft) high, this famous maritime landmark is the tallest on the Australian mainland. Climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse and get a flavor of how lighthouse keepers lived. Bring a warm jacket but leave your hat so the wind doesn't blow it away. • Excellent tourist attraction. We visited when in wine country and really enjoyed the audio tour. There is a wait for the lighthouse tour which was dissapointing and not included in the entry.  more »
  • Loved every part of this attraction. The self guided audio tour followed by the guided tour of the lighthouse was so well organised. Learnt so much and the highlight was definitely standing at the top...  more »

  • This was our second visit although first 5 years ago. I am pleased to say that nothing has changed and it's just as lovely as I remembered. We had a guided tour of the lighthouse and our guide was 1st class. The views from the top was fantastic. The cafe was very good and had a good selection of pies. Would certainly recommend a visit and guided tour.
  • How often do you get to visit the top of a lighthouse? A working lighthouse that has been automated but with such rich history. Well kept due to being self sufficient from tourist tickets Spend some moments to appreciate the meeting of the two oceans
  • What a place! Very good tourist attraction. It's in the edge of the island. The lighthouse is magnificent. Very well maintained place. They have spots where you can try the telescope and watch the 2 oceans meet. Passes are expensive. It's gives you access to climb the lighthouse. They'll also give you an audio guide. Illustrations are also available in the area in case you choose not to pay for the full access. They have souvenir shop and cafe. Toilets and parking are available for free.
  • SUCH A FRIENDLY STAFF AND TOWER GUIDES.YOU HAVE TO CLIMB ALL THE WAY UP......TAKE YOUR TIMES....ONCE U REACH IT AMAZING THE VIEWS AND THE WINDS.U MAY SEE TWO OCEANS REACH AT THE POINT OF THE COVE U MAY SEE THE WAVE OF EACH DIRECTION BEAT EACH OTHER WHEN THEY MEET AT THAT POINT.....IT REALLY AMAZING ON TWO OPEN SEA.
  • If you plan to fully utilize the self-guide machine, and still join the tour up, do plan at least to stay for 2 hours. Beautiful views of the oceans and flora
