Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary is part of a large Important Bird Area, established to support and protect habitats sheltering over 160 bird species, including short-tailed grasswrens, pied honeyeaters, chirruping wedgebills, and cinnamon quail-thrushes. Winner of several prestigious ecotourism awards, the sanctuary offers renowned 4WD tours, taking visitors deep into the wilderness over rugged mountain tracks. Drive up to Siller’s Lookout for a panoramic view across the plains toward Lake Frome and the Beverly Uranium Mine. Accommodation options at the sanctuary include motel-style rooms, several campsites, and a caravan park. An information center, internet café, and a bar are also located within the sanctuary.
