Araluen Cultural Precinct, Alice Springs

4.4
#3 of 16 in Museums in Alice Springs
A complex that houses art and history within its environs, Araluen Cultural Precinct showcases stunning and dynamic aboriginal art. Discover the history of skies at the aviation museum or the history of the earth at the geology and fossil exhibit. Catch a performance at the center for contemporary art and delight in the many galleries around the complex. If you're a film buff, check out the program for art-house films at the 500-seat theater, where independent films and live performance both find an audience. However, one of the highlights of the complex isn't the moving pictures but the magnificent stained-glass window that greets visitors at the entrance at the arts complex. • go thre and include the Strehlow research centre next door. Great gallery there with originals by great Aboriginal Australians.  more »
  • The culture area consists of a theater, a small aircraft Museum, a shop and the mentioned Museum. The store was rather interesting and the Aviation Museum was manageable. Museum of Central Australia is a natural history museum with some historical additions, which has liked us very much and is very modern.

  • Amazing facilities and exhibitions. adequate seating and ample car parking. Home of the Annual Beanie Festival which celebrates winter in the outback. Henry Rollins came to Alice Springs and performed spoken word to a full house and it had also recently hosted ABC Television show QANDA. It would be great to see more events at this venue in the future. In Particular film festivals, stand up comedy and perhaps tribute shows.

Beautiful aboriginal art from different cultural background, amazing museum with audio support from the beginning of the earth to early pioneers and the impact of white man in Central Australia. A beautiful exhibition. Well displayed. Well done to everyone who works there and created this place.
