  • To me, this is not the most interesting building to view from the outside. It is situated among other such buildings (Eg Art Gallery, Museum, Government Buildings, etc.). However, the interior is most...  more »
  • In the corner with its Museum, the Museum of fine arts, State Library. It is, of course, free. On the ground floor Café and the--I even is. It is like art gallery or Museum. Or search on the pc is on the first floor, there is corner kids are fun and educational. It is a quiet and serene space. Stuffed animals, try opening one for the shelf and had stored various things. From the butterfly from the bones from the rock. Open the drawer to excited about it. Upstairs is a space where children can play. I also like this, learning through play, everyone from adults to children libraries in Japan and it made me think. Visit your library, Museum, Museum of fine arts as well as recommended

  • The State Library also has an art gallery. A competitive exhibition was ongoing, with jury judgments already indicated. We did not fully agree with the jury's decisions. In fact, one landscape painting so caught our art-collector's fancy that we acquired it. Staff are lovely, dedicated ladies, who were so very helpful. Be therefore aware of smaller art exhibitions: sometimes you can find true jewels there, both in art and attending staff.
  • We recently visited the State Library to obtain a copy of a 1917 newspaper. The staff were amazing and spent 1 hour helping us find the page we wanted then printing it out. They then enlarged the page to A2 and photo-shopped the page so it was very clear. I can't recommend the State Library highly enough the staff especially Dean were exceptional.
  • The library has excellent family history resources, facilities and staff to help with your research queries.
  • Absolutely amazing place. Went on a school tour with my son. So much to see and do. The tour was such a great experience.
  • Make sure you take time to visit the State Library even if it is to check out the decadent, delicious and divine reading room. It's absolutely stunning and so lovely to be surrounded by a million minds worth of knowledge transcribed onto paper. This room can also be used for functions and from what I've seen from various events, the room is even more amazing.

Where to stay in Adelaide

Most budget-friendly rooms in Adelaide cluster in the central business district, with plenty of backpacker accommodations located near the city's central bus station. Adelaide also boasts an outstanding public transport system, which makes staying outside the central areas a viable and economical option for sightseers. Look for quiet and affordable rooms in North Adelaide, a leafy neighborhood filled with an eclectic mix of shopping and dining options. Book early for visits during peak season, and expect higher prices on the weekends and during school holidays.
