Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web
Gaze at over 1,800 animals covering more than 300 species at Adelaide Zoo. Australia's second oldest zoo and the only major city zoo running as a nonprofit offers exhibits of wildlife from four continents. At Immersion, walk through Southeast Asian jungle and come practically face-to-face with Sumatran Tigers and Orangutans. A behind-the-scenes tour brings you up close with a range of animals and into normally off-limits areas. Pay special attention to the former Elephant House and the entrance on Frome Road; both of these are on the National Trust of South Australia's architectural heritage list. • This is the 2nd year we have paid for family membership. With 2 young children it is very worthwhile, especially considering we can use it at Monarto and some zoos interstate.
  • I titled this review as two in one as you can see amazing and precious animals while experiencing botanical grounds. Everything is fresh, plenty on offer to do eg guide tours, brief encounters with an...  read more »
  • I always love visiting this zoo. The staff are the friendliest of all the zoo in Australia, the animals are plentiful and cheerful. My wife loves the 4 little Otters as you enter. Plenty of things to keep the kids occupied also. Overall, a great day for the family any day of the year!
  • What can I say - I *love* the zoo. Adelaide Zoo is small compared to some international zoos, but they've used the space well, and they seem conscious of the comfort of the animals - not trying to cram too many in together. Exhibits are very well done - it's a great day out. My favourites are the Red Pandas and Fennec Foxes. The reptiles are also great. As a few people have mentioned, parking in that area can be dicey - I'd recommend parking somewhere around Rundle Street and taking a walk through the Botanic Gardens to reach the zoo.
  • Such a beautiful zoo, massively child friendly with displays that are easy to see from child height and lots of things to climb on and up. We loved the pandas and the frogs the best. Parking is good but need coins for the meters. I recommend a membership, we got so much use out of it!
  • Nice zoo! Nice cages, especially the one with the snakes. The animals have enough space to live. Furthermore the koala pics dont coast extra. I loved the koala in my arm, such sweet animals
  • Life member. All part of my retirement plan! Always new baby somethings here. Fabulous breeding programs helping to save wildlife from extinction.
