There is an amazing range of food stalls in this market. Great cheeses, coffee, fresh and cured meats, plus lots of fruit and vegetables. As well the fresh bread shops are great and Chinatown is right...  more »

Been to most capital cities in Australia and this is the best central fresh food market out of all of them! Fresh produce is cheap, high quality and local. Love the irregular vegetables, just shows how local the produce is. The cheese and other cafes are a bit of a mixed bag, good fresh bread mostly but can be quite pricey. Quality is questionable when it comes to the delis. Great place that is open most weekdays and Saturday, come Saturday afternoon as sellers will be giving discounts on their products!

Vibrant with colour, activity and buzz. A great place to find a bargain or just mellow out. Unique fully undercover market. Great for gourmet food shopping as well as for those on a budget. Convenient and reasonable-cost parking. The only place in Adelaide to buy West Terrace Cemetery olive oil. The staff at the second hand book store were excellent, knowledgeable of many subjects and made good recommendations. Also look out for authentic Filipino food here.

Love the market, and surrounding retail. So many options for lovely quick meals, love the Asian food court and various Asian supermarkets in the complex. The Honey Shoppe is a highlight too. Somewhat overwhelming choices of fresh produce, cheeses, meats, breads etc.

What isn't to love about the central markets. A hive of fresh produce, meats, cheeses and cakes doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the variety of foods you can purchase here. Bustling on Friday nights and Saturdays I still choose to shop during those times because of the atmosphere. Parking directly upstairs is extremely convenient even with the fee.

Great place. As a kid my dad & I would go on Friday nights. Now as an adult, no longer living in Adelaide, its a first port of call when visiting. Great FRESH produce. Brilliant choice range. Eateries by the dozen in or nearby. Great atmosphere. My only gripe is that it closes on Sundays and early on Saturdays. No change since 1950s or before. In the modern world with 2 income families, Sunday is a peak shopping day. Time to open all weekend .... 7 days or maybe close Min (at present) and Tuesday .

Where to stay in Adelaide

Most budget-friendly rooms in Adelaide cluster in the central business district, with plenty of backpacker accommodations located near the city's central bus station. Adelaide also boasts an outstanding public transport system, which makes staying outside the central areas a viable and economical option for sightseers. Look for quiet and affordable rooms in North Adelaide, a leafy neighborhood filled with an eclectic mix of shopping and dining options. Book early for visits during peak season, and expect higher prices on the weekends and during school holidays.
