  • Great little hidden gem in the back streets of inner Melbourne. Catholics nuns used to coordinate with local authorities to round up single mums and other vulnerable women off the streets of Melbourne and make them work for nothing. Free labour for the church, so the whole complex has a very Oliver Twist kind of feel to it, with very imposing Victorian buildings that you can now wander through and explore. One wonders what went on in the "Bishop's Parlour" back in ye olden days, but fortunately the whole place is now converted into performance art spaces, community halls and offices for a number of good not-for-profits that work with the local community. The local cafes and pubs also have a great atmosphere, particularly on weekends. The local museum is well worth a visit if you have an interest in local history. It's simple, informative with interesting videos etc, housed in the original chapel.
  • Weird creepy religious buildings with a lot of history and hirable function rooms.:/ Interesting walk around and animal farm in the city. Kids loved the petting session with the cute guinea pigs and the peacocks wandering around. Expensive food and drinks at cafes. Overall not bad. Good for a once off trip to see it and read about the history in Melbourne.
  • Such beautiful gardens, wonderful cafés... and that’s not including the children’s farm, the bee display or Lentil as anything... all excellent too. There’s also event spaces to hire and a twice monthly farmer’s market. Basically, I love this place.
  • The site is lovely for a brunch or a late afternoon coffee. Great to dine and walk around the Convent with friends or family. Very relaxed setting.
  • I had a lot of fun! A long walk with my doggo and yummy vegan food at lentil as anything!!!!! Also I found this little poster on a pole!
