  • I didn't even realize this was a bird sanctuary until i found this TripAdvisor listing... We didn't see a sign or anything - just noticed a 'road' and a viewing platform and decided to check it out. S...  more »
  • Very nice and pleasant place for those who love nature. Stay right in the middle of the area hotels, but is purely native vegetation and full of birds in some months of the year. Very good for a stroll and relax, even with children.

  • the Bird Sanctuary is nice and quiet. It is a good spot to watch the local birds. We enjoyed seeing it.

  • Look out for wild dogs, the tower is awesome though. Entrance is by the Mill.
  • I went to this sanctuary area. It's made up mostly of wetlands, trees, and an observation tower. The tower is the best place to observe the birds, but the authorities should spend a little money on this area to clean it up and make it more attractive for visitors. I saw maybe five types of birds including the little yellow warbler. There are no signs to help you identify what types of birds you are viewing nor is there any information about how the "sanctuary" was built. Tip: It's important the area at the right time of day: dusk and and dawn are the prime hours to be there. I arrived a little after dawn, but still spotted a variety of birds there, both from the tower and from the ground. Herons, ducks, moorhens etc -- and a peregrine falcon. But in tropical midday sun there will be few birds to be seen, so pick your visit time carefully. ***
  • The old sewage treatment plant ponds, overgrown with cattails/reeds, yet still productive of good birds. Good spot to see Green Herons within 20 feet, moorhens, a lot of ducks, some parakeets. know your flyovers, and keep your eyes in action. Tell the cab driver "it's across from the big windmill" if they don't know where it is....
  • Really there is not much to see. Grasslands and occasionally a bird. See more birds in eagle beach
