Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations, Aruba

4.1
#5 of 15 in Nature in Aruba
Geologic Formation Nature / Park
Climb to observe the mysterious rock formations at Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations. Scientists are unsure how the rock formations formed on a flat, arid island, but they speculate that the sea’s previously high levels aided in their formation. At the two locations you can view large, oddly shaped boulders that resemble birds and dragons. Nearby, look for ancient carvings to observe. Cacti surround the rocks and many lizards and birds can be viewed. Restrooms are available for a fee. Plan your visit to Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Oranjestad tour planner.

  • There isn't that much to see in Aruba if you are not going to the beach, snorkeling, drinking by the pool, etc, so you will want to take a bus tour around the island. This is one of the sites you will...  more »
  • Really magnificent rock formations that tumbled in unique sculptures. Climbing to the top can be precarious but worth the view of this small island.  more »
  • We are glad we stopped here along the way on our sightseeing tour of Aruba. We were visiting from the RCCL Southern Caribbean Cruise tour.  more »

  • Interesting formation. Great views. Free with no one hounding you to buy stuff.
  • Whichever way you criss-cross the island, you cannot miss it. And it's a well spent half an hour break.
  • Pretty interesting spot to stop by. You get some good views of the city and a nice quiet area to eat and take pictures. Its not a hard walk to the top but still fun.
  • Interesting stop. Good views from top of formation. Wear sensible shoes, walk down is kinda steep. There is not much here so takes less than 30 minutes. Unexpectedly, there was free WiFi here. Also, this is one of the few places where you don't have to pay to use the public restrooms.
  • Awesome place to visit and it's a easy climb.
