Yerevan Cascade, Yerevan

4.6
Explore a lavishly decorated stairway-building and a museum of art hidden inside the walls at Yerevan Cascade. The 118 m (387 ft) tall landmark embodies the transition from the Soviet era to democracy: partially completed before the devastating earthquake and breakup of the USSR, the complex was finalized in 2002, marking the country's economic revitalization and opening of cultural borders. As you approach the monumental site, observe the designed fountains, courtyards, and sculptures located on terraces and platforms. The interior contains an intricate network of halls and corridors--all connected to the outdoors via series of escalators. When you reach the top of the stairway, enjoy a panoramic view of the city center and Mount Ararat. • Museum inside the stairs was amazing. Such a wonderful Yerevan view over the stairs.. take the stairs to go up and try to explore hidden museums or exhebitions.  more »
  • One of the main attractions of the city. Beautiful, lots of steps up, say, inside there is an escalator, but we could not get there. If you go upstairs, Ararat. You can go even higher along the private sector, on another ladder, after which you get in a small park of bizarre sculptures. Someone from the local activists brought the joy of Yerevan residents, some very "amazing", but the view is worth it. And across the street you can get into the Park, through which you get to the monument "mother motherland". The park itself abandoned as Pripyat, there is a lake. Look at the map at the entrance. And the motherland ...! And views of the city from above! Will have to spend about 3-4 hours at all. You can take a taxi (100 p) or there are minibuses. And you'd better Cascade + 2 Park, otherwise then may not arise again desires to ascend the stairs

  • The sculptures here were very interesting! I cannot say much about the landscaping as it was winter time whilst we were here. I hope to visit back at spring and probably could comment better. Neverthe...  more »

  • A great architectural building. Visiting this place during late spring or early summer are the best times. The fountains are really nice, as are the sculptures and statues. The art inside is also decent. The escalators are efficient and clean. Everything inside is also clean. A very nice place.
  • Been here a million times since there is only so much to do in Yerevan on a given day. The lower portion of the complex and museum is quite impressive and the gardens are well maintained. It is the Yerevan’s pride and joy, and provides great views of the City and Sis and Masis (Mt. Ararat) when they aren’t obscured by air pollution. The top tiers were never finished and have been under construction for years now. A walk to the top is still worth the visit nevertheless.
  • Must visit place in Yerevan. Beautiful architecture. Their museum is only open until 8pm costs 1000amd. We arrived at 7:20 and by 7:40 they had already closed top floors.
  • Amazing Armenia. Such beautiful memories of the motherland. A beautiful, vast open air museum, in the city of open air. I could walk there all day, and never feel tired. What a feeling, walking through these beautiful streets of Yerevan . Pure nostalgia. A must in your excursion to this city of wonder. Սւծհ բեաւտյ! Ամազինգ հայաստան. Where to stay in Yerevan

When it comes to accommodations in Yerevan, you'll find a number and a range befitting its status as the capital and most populous city in the country. Look in the Kentron (center) district, where by far the greatest number and best quality hotels can be found. Hotels in old Soviet blocks, grand former administrative buildings, or newly built high-rises offer standard to luxury rooms, along with a set of smaller hostels. With prices notoriously high for the region (and many visitors using Yerevan as a base from which to see the country), consider renting an apartment if staying for a longer period.
