Victory Park and Statue of Mother Armenia, Yerevan

4.2
#5 of 83 in Sightseeing in Yerevan
Monument Tourist Spot
Enjoy a panoramic view of the city and admire a symbol of Armenia at Victory Park and Statue of Mother Armenia, a green area overlooking Yerevan. The monumental, 51 m (167 ft) metal figure of a sword-bearing woman stands on a huge basalt pedestal resembling a three-nave Armenian basilica. The pedestal, which once supported a colossal sculpture of Stalin, houses a military museum commemorating World War II Victory Day. Look for the conserved Soviet Katyusha multiple rocket launcher and other artillery pieces on display in the surrounding park. Take a turn around the green grounds, rent a paddleboat in the manmade lake, or visit the onsite amusement park. Make Victory Park and Statue of Mother Armenia a centerpiece of your Yerevan vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Yerevan travel itinerary planner.

  • Pretty ugly this statue that guards with his stern face Yerevan and Armenia, similar to the same mail over mountain of Tblisi in Georgia. Ready to defend his people, with masculine traits is benchmark citizen, not particularly impressive, but present.

  • Mother Armenia is situated in a stunning location overlooking the whole of Yerevan. Under a monument has a small museum, which for the most part everything is in Armenian. There is a pond and atractions that day didn't exactly work, and in the evening-I don't know.

  • One of the best views of the city with Mount Ararat in the background. The amusement park to mother Armenia feet has its own charm from the past and is certainly worth a little visit.

Where to stay in Yerevan

When it comes to accommodations in Yerevan, you'll find a number and a range befitting its status as the capital and most populous city in the country. Look in the Kentron (center) district, where by far the greatest number and best quality hotels can be found. Hotels in old Soviet blocks, grand former administrative buildings, or newly built high-rises offer standard to luxury rooms, along with a set of smaller hostels. With prices notoriously high for the region (and many visitors using Yerevan as a base from which to see the country), consider renting an apartment if staying for a longer period.
