Republic Square, Yerevan
(4.7/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Constructed in a stone pattern similar to a traditional Armenian rug, Republic Square attracts swarms of tourists and locals during some of the city's most prominent concerts, venues, and ceremonies. Intersected by main streets, the oval-shaped plaza lies surrounded by important pink and white stone buildings, such as the government house, the history museum, and several ministries. Where a statue of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin once dominated the square, today musical fountains perform choreographed light shows followed by music. You can find rest and refreshments in many cafes and restaurants nearby. Make Republic Square part of your personalized Yerevan itinerary using our Yerevan holiday planner.

  • In November here specifically to do nothing, the fountains are no longer working. But we were lucky with the sunshine and we enjoyed the beauty of rose Tuff from which made all the buildings on the square. The Sun at different times of the day colors of building a different shades))) very nicely. And yet every night near one of the buildings of somebody sang or played on traditional Armenian instruments, and the area has a unique acoustics, due to its architecture. Of course in the area of 12:00 the night I wanted to go out and shoot this "pevuna")))) but to be honest we really liked.

  • From pink Tuff. It's nice to walk on it. Looks wonderful in the evenings lights. It is a pity that during our visit fountains no longer worked.

  • This is a special view which was designed by architecture Alexander Tamanyan. There shouldn't be any building after the arc, to see the whole beauty of holy mount. Try to find the point and make unique photos
  • Nice open area surrounded by great architecture and giant clock. Best feature is the fountain. At night it's a showcase of light and colour along to music. Good atmosphere .
  • Beautiful, the everyday water show is a must see.
  • beautiful, old, and soviet. i would say make sure to visit this area, but if you're in yerevan, you have already driven past it. Take a stroll through it, have some dinner, see the fountain show. This place is yerevan.
  • Nothing special, another soviet style square. There are some nice places around though. A flee street market and some cafes
