I visited the National Gallery with a friend, the collections are very pretty, especially the collection of Armenian paintings that were little used to see in Western Europe. It was a positive experience overall, worth it, but when it's very hot, it is quite difficult because there is no air conditioning (the windows are open and there's fans by floors...)

The gallery contains a unique collection of Armenian and Russian art, worthy of the most widely known. Unfortunately, unlike fromother museums that I happened to see in Armenia (Armenian Genocide Museum, orbeli brothers Museum in Tsaghkadzor), this gallery generates indifference to its own treasures. Inscriptions to exhibits Sin negligence and incomplete (often not even specified the date of creation of the paintings are not defined historical characters depicted on them), visitors could enter the course briefly Armenian mythology. There is nothing of this. Amazing photograph ban which could justify the commercial considerations, if the Museum shop had a rich selection of cards. But this too is not! So customers deprived of the possibility to bring pictures of your favorite pictures, and this could really contribute to the popularization of this Museum! The Louvre Museum, the Albertina, the Hermitage and MN. Etc. Allow a shot. Why the Yerevan Gallery like the dog in the Manger? Another point on which we could work, became a sultriness in halls, deprived of air conditioners. But to finish the review would like others: thanks for that gallery was opened for. Many interesting Armenian artists, for example Vardges Surakjanc.

Nice gallery, but the workers close much earlier than the schedule says. Got there on Sunday at 3pm thinking we have 2 h , but they started shutting down and kicking us out at 4.15😐

Gorgeous place in Yerevan. Here you can enjoy works of the armenian artists and not only. National gallery has a lot of works of Aivazovsky. I adore works of Surenyants, he was genius. You can see his work's copy in The Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral too. "Salome", "Shamiram and Ara the Beautiful", "After the Massacre". You must to see it. I recommend to take a guide for understand better. You can see and enjoy without them too, but when you know the history of pictures - it's another feeling!!

Where to stay in Yerevan

When it comes to accommodations in Yerevan, you'll find a number and a range befitting its status as the capital and most populous city in the country. Look in the Kentron (center) district, where by far the greatest number and best quality hotels can be found. Hotels in old Soviet blocks, grand former administrative buildings, or newly built high-rises offer standard to luxury rooms, along with a set of smaller hostels. With prices notoriously high for the region (and many visitors using Yerevan as a base from which to see the country), consider renting an apartment if staying for a longer period.
