The first Soviet museum dedicated to modern and contemporary art, Modern Art Museum features a collection of Armenian and international works from the 1960s to the present day. The core collection included works from the 1960s, donated by prominent local artists and those working as part of the Armenian diaspora. The museum's compilation of works expanded in the 1980s by further donations, and then again in 2010s by works of a number of North American and French artists.
