Specialty Museum Museum
The first Soviet museum dedicated to modern and contemporary art, Modern Art Museum features a collection of Armenian and international works from the 1960s to the present day. The core collection included works from the 1960s, donated by prominent local artists and those working as part of the Armenian diaspora. The museum's compilation of works expanded in the 1980s by further donations, and then again in 2010s by works of a number of North American and French artists. Where to stay in Yerevan

When it comes to accommodations in Yerevan, you'll find a number and a range befitting its status as the capital and most populous city in the country. Look in the Kentron (center) district, where by far the greatest number and best quality hotels can be found. Hotels in old Soviet blocks, grand former administrative buildings, or newly built high-rises offer standard to luxury rooms, along with a set of smaller hostels. With prices notoriously high for the region (and many visitors using Yerevan as a base from which to see the country), consider renting an apartment if staying for a longer period.

  • Arrived on Sunday, my last day in Yerevan, to see the artworks I'd been highly anticipating, but it turns out they're CLOSED on Sundays - NOT Mondays. Please redress this on the google page for your museum to prevent disappointment with others as well.
