  • About 6 km outside of the center was Erebuni Fortress & Museum, one of the few ruins left in Yerevan. The sight had significantly less visitors compared to other sights most likely due to its distance...  more »
  • Easy to reach with a taxi. The museum part is smallish and does not impress much. But the ruins of the old fortress up to the hill offers great views over the city. It is a rather heavy climb though. ...  more »
  • The Museum there is quite good, even though the small and filled with some copies of artifacts. But this is the only archaeological museum in Yerevan (and possibly in Armenia), where you can freely take photographs.

  • old fortress, nice place for walk when you are in Armenia.Fantastic view
  • ancient Urartunian fortres. it is not mentioned about armenians. Irevan historical city of Azerbaijan
  • Very nice view over the city. We payed the entry fee but on the top we saw that there is a unguarded street where the locals come here for free even with cars. The street starts a few hundred meters right from the museum.
  • Fortress itself wasn't super interesting and unfortunately the museum was closed.
  • Having been founded in 722 B.C., Erebuni fortress is still impressive. It is one of the most important Urartian sites. It is a great place for the lovers of ancient castles. There are various cuneiform inscriptions. You can walk at Apadana, Khaldi tower and some other cute places.

Where to stay in Yerevan

When it comes to accommodations in Yerevan, you'll find a number and a range befitting its status as the capital and most populous city in the country. Look in the Kentron (center) district, where by far the greatest number and best quality hotels can be found. Hotels in old Soviet blocks, grand former administrative buildings, or newly built high-rises offer standard to luxury rooms, along with a set of smaller hostels. With prices notoriously high for the region (and many visitors using Yerevan as a base from which to see the country), consider renting an apartment if staying for a longer period.
