Mountain Nature / Park
Marvel at the snow-covered double peaks of biblical Mount Ararat and other parts of Caucasus Mountains, not far from Yerevan. Hike around fabulous mountain landscapes of the Lesser Caucasus by taking a short trip outside the city, where you'll see rows of hills, mountain goats, and rolling clouds. While the largest part of the mountains is in Georgia, 5,317 m (16,854 ft) Ararat lies in both Turkey and Armenia, with spectacular scenery accessible from the latter. With its grandiose peaks and the contrast of bright and dark slopes, the mountain range close to the city offers diverse vegetation and easy trails. • The visions of the small Caucasus and two Ararat, large and small, located in Turkish territory, are from Yerevan, the beginning of a journey to discover these magnificent mountains. Suggest you go up on the top floor of the National Museum, where from the top you can admire the Ararat and start to see the Caucasus northward behind Yerevan. Spectacular views for spectacular mountains!

  • Mountains Highlands and snowfields that follow each other to no end, passing from the steppe yellow to green forests of conifers. And where you least expect it, such as in 3500 meters at the edge of a Lake, Neolithic rock carvings (you know the Val Camonica?). If you don't mind the wide open spaces, roads to adventure and the km without seeing a soul, the Caucasus is for you. A Board go during flowering (I got lucky) and you'll get lost in the intense color of myriads of flowers. An experience not to be missed!

Where to stay in Yerevan

When it comes to accommodations in Yerevan, you'll find a number and a range befitting its status as the capital and most populous city in the country. Look in the Kentron (center) district, where by far the greatest number and best quality hotels can be found. Hotels in old Soviet blocks, grand former administrative buildings, or newly built high-rises offer standard to luxury rooms, along with a set of smaller hostels. With prices notoriously high for the region (and many visitors using Yerevan as a base from which to see the country), consider renting an apartment if staying for a longer period.
