Blue Mosque (Persian Mosque), Yerevan
(3.8/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Step into the peaceful courtyard of Blue Mosque (Persian Mosque), and admire the building's ornate, Persian-style facade. Completed in the 18th century, the mosque was commissioned by Nadir Shah, a powerful Persian ruler. Its simple chambers and prayer hall contrast the exterior's intricate tile-work, vibrantly painted dome, and 24 m (79 ft) minaret. Wander among the roses of the tranquil mosque garden, and visit the small museum that details the building's history. • The only mosque preserved in Yerevan from 18 century. Now comes the restoration, inside are not allowed. But outside the mosque is beautiful, plus there is a library, but with books mostly in Persian. Biblitekar' Elena is very gracious, and can tell something about the mosque.

  • The blue mosque, named similarly to the mosque in Turkey, although it has nothing to do with it. Firstly it is a Shia mosque, and secondly it is still being renovated. There is not a single mosque in ...  more »
  • Seeing the dome of the mosque from a window-decided to see it closer. It is very different from mosques in places where Islam is widespread, but it still is beautiful and mesmerizing.

  • Shia mosque which was used by Azerbaijanian prayers. Most of old places in the town which were connected with Azerbaijanians were demolished.
  • Beautiful building and very calm place to bring someone for a date or just to hang out and read. Quiet, despite the proximity of Mashtots. Other than a quiet beautiful place, not much to see, but, still, easily a must see in Yerevan. Considering Armenia is a Christian country, this mosque is wonderfully maintained.
  • The mosque is great! The Muslims who visit this place are very hospitable, kind and are eager to answer your questions!
  • An ordinary looking mosque. There are more beautiful mosques in the Middle East. Not worth joining a tour for it. You can walk there on your own.
  • I was just visiting there as the only left mosque in the city. But one day I met a woman who told me about the mosque, it's history and she showed me the gallery. I was really surprised. If you go here find someone to tell you the history and how they use the environment.
