Monastery Sevanavank, Sevan

4.8
#2 of 8 in Things to do in Gegharkunik Province
Landmark Tourist Spot
Enjoy a visit to the picturesque site of Monastery Sevanavank, an ancient religious complex that overlooks Lake Sevan. Situated on a peninsula that was once an island before the water level dropped, the monastery stands atop a hill, with scenic views of the lake and the often snow-capped slopes in the backdrop. You'll need to climb a number of stairs to reach the site, but you'll be rewarded with inspiring panoramic views. Explore the two historic churches, most likely dating from the 9th century and exhibiting a typical, simple Armenian style of architecture. • The most famous place of Sevan lake area! Need to be visited. It's not only historical place, but also great view of the lake from here!
  • The view of Sevan Lake is breathtaking! When you visit Armenia, you MUST include this in your itinerary. it's best if you go in the spring or summer, since in winter it would be cold.
  • if it's good weather, you can come here,I think it is not special, but nice!
  • Nothing special, except extremly strong wind, it was even hard to walk there. However, nice view
  • The view of Sevan Lake is breathtaking! When you visit Armenia, you MUST include this in your itinerary. Sevanavank (the monasteries in Sevanavank) is in higher location so you will have to climb up (don't worry they have stairs, a long one). Don't forget to bring your jacket, it's cold.
