4.5/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
The largest body of water in the Caucasus region, Lake Sevan boasts a number of resorts, camping sites, and cabana-type accommodations catering to budget-minded travelers. The high-altitude lake lies 1,900 m (6,233 ft) above sea level, offering excellent hiking opportunities that combine scenic nature with impressive cultural heritage, passing ancient monasteries and prehistoric stone gardens with petroglyphs. Resembling a sea, the lake displays a range of blue colors and is home to many hearty fish, most notably the endemic Sevan trout or ishkhan, a local specialty. • the tour is very long to do, North coast presents too much interest (mainly complex, houses etc abandoned) and the road is bad or badly damaged, the other has more point of interest (churches, stelae)

  • Sevan Lake, located at an altitude of almost 2000 metres, and captivates with its color and beauty, and clean water! In the evenings, sometimes cool even in the hot summer weather! And in coastal restaurants should definitely try the fish!

  • I went to Armenia for a visit. Friends, the first thing I was told about Lake Sevan "that I should definitely be there. We arrived and were placed in small houses practically on the shore. Stood taller than hotels for every taste, with all the comforts, but we did not see them, even as prices have been very high. In general we have and so it was not bad, bed, tv, refrigerator. Of course all facilities on the street, but it's not scary. Before the House was a gazebo and a grill. With regard to the wood, then we had to buy, many were carrying. It is better to buy in a shop in town, save a decent amount, and at the entrance there is a shop where they sell and firewood, food, drinks, toys and any little thing. Lake Shore is no different from our Russian South. Range of mountains, pure water (admittedly has a sweetish taste), sand and water activities (banana, Tablet, parasailing, jet skis, catamarans). Set water not always good, and there are stones, where lounge chairs under a canopy and need to go. On the beach has a children's playground are sunbeds (not a lot) lavatory. There are tents with drinks and coffee ice cream. Old women sell corn sweetness. A lot of tourists, mainly Germans and Englishmen. On the tour you can climb to the top, see the ancient monastery, dine at the restaurant or Café and enjoy the views of "Sevan". Do not forget to buy souvenirs (magnets, plates, jewelry). Master sell just beautiful pictures. In the evening somewhere nearby disco, but we unfortunately have not got there. In general calm, healthy rest. By the way the Lake is located near the city of Yerevan (40-50 km). Next summer I'll be back there again.
