Water Body Nature / Park
The largest body of water in the Caucasus region, Lake Sevan boasts a number of resorts, camping sites, and cabana-type accommodations catering to budget-minded travelers. The high-altitude lake lies 1,900 m (6,233 ft) above sea level, offering excellent hiking opportunities that combine scenic nature with impressive cultural heritage, passing ancient monasteries and prehistoric stone gardens with petroglyphs. Resembling a sea, the lake displays a range of blue colors and is home to many hearty fish, most notably the endemic Sevan trout or ishkhan, a local specialty.
