Religious Site
Admire exquisite stone carvings at Haghartsin Monastery, an architectural ensemble featuring three masterful stone churches surrounded by a thick forest. One of Armenia's most visited monasteries, this compact architectural complex built from the 10th to the 14th century includes St. Stepanos Church, St. Gregory Church, and Holy Mother of God Church, whose sixteen-faced dome has elaborately decorated arches. Ornamental highlights include a chandelier and icons, one of which depicts an Asiatic Virgin Mary and Jesus in an attempt to spare them from Mongol destruction. Visit the royal sepulcher and the vaulted refectory (built in 1248 and still in use) to round out your experience of the medieval complex. • Were at sunset. The complex no longer worked, but was able to walk in silence on its territory-a wonderful, quiet and very beautiful place!

  • I advise everyone to visit these places during summer! Here is an excellent nature for rest and relaxation!

  • Really really quiet place. The oldest ... like all Armenian churches. It is a pity that no one to conduct the excursion was not there. Admission is free.

  • A wonderful place! The monastery has been renovated. In my opinion, the old Haghartsin was better. But anyway, the church is still beautiful. And it matches very well with the nature.
  • Must see place in Armenia. It is especially wonderful in autumn, better say in October. As all surrounding forests are painted in all tones of red, yellow and orange. The monastery itself is also very interesting, and is a great example of medieval architecture.
  • Very nice monastery in the fog.
  • Marvellous and different all year around.
  • Great place. One of the beauties of Armenia.
