Marvel at masterpieces of ancient Armenian stonemasonry at Noravank Monastery, an architectural ensemble set in the Amaghu River Gorge. Surrounded by dramatic red cliffs, this stone complex boasts the 14th-century double-decker Surb Astvatsatsin Church (Holy Mother of God), as well as Surb Karapet (St. John The Baptist), built in 1216-1227 while Latin crusaders held Constantinople. Both churches feature characteristic bell tower drums and conical roofs. Explore the complex further to discover a number of intriguing khachkars and important cave complexes. • The location makes this monastery to an absolute highlight in Armenia. Alone the way there and the panoramic on-site are impressive. We were lucky and four singers sang in the cave Church - that was feeling goose bumps!

  • wonderful place. the fantastic nature. the rich history of the place is staggering. on a sunny day, I advise you to apply a remedy against sunburn (my face burned). disagree that this place can be compared with other majestic monasteries. This place absolutely different energy and emotions. admission is free, parking is available for cars.

  • Grand monastery, one of the three most important of Armenia. It is accessed through a narrow Canyon that already gives idea of isolation and the character of the place. Built in the 13th century was an important cultural enclave, the originality of the main church, with an upper floor which is accessed by a peculiar and dangerous staircase in the middle of the façade is remarkable.

  • One of the nicest Monastery in the world, buildings very nice from 9th and 12-13 centuries!!! Full of spiritual energy and aura. Place and view from there are very beautiful!!!
  • Middle age christian temples with unique architectural solutions. The face of Father-God, only one in Armenian Christian architecture.
  • It sits on top of a hill. The view from the top would have been nice if not because of the heavy snow. I came to Armenia last February 2017 which is winter season. Hope to visit the place again in the future!
  • Amazing place surrounded by red rocks. Sometimes you can see Bezoar goats on the cliffs, which is impressive
  • Its very far from the city..but it's worth when you're there. Fresh air, nice mountain rock, beautiful flowers, nice people..I'm a fan of old churches,i like quite place, even though we didn't watch the wedding ceremony that day, because there is.. because we need to visit other place.
