(4.9/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Marvel at masterpieces of ancient Armenian stonemasonry at Noravank Monastery, an architectural ensemble set in the Amaghu River Gorge. Surrounded by dramatic red cliffs, this stone complex boasts the 14th-century double-decker Surb Astvatsatsin Church (Holy Mother of God), as well as Surb Karapet (St. John The Baptist), built in 1216-1227 while Latin crusaders held Constantinople. Both churches feature characteristic bell tower drums and conical roofs. Explore the complex further to discover a number of intriguing khachkars and important cave complexes. • Entrance to the monastery Noravank through unusually beautiful gorge. The monastery stands high on the den and captivates with its unusual color ochre. Jewelry masters, an extraordinary inspiration and sense of wonder is a Noravank. I advise everyone to visit.

  • A very unusual place in its location. The complex of temples and chapels located on top of a mountain overlooking the krasiveshij look! All temples are open, they are active. There is also a souvenir shop, you can type spring water from the source, it is very tasty)) around the temples, on the monastery grounds are benches where you can sit and admire the beauty of the mountains. For many centuries the place has survived perfectly! It is worth a visit!

  • One of the most important places to visit if you are travelling in Armenia! Noravank is great! It was constructed by Momik, one of the greatest Armenian architects. Literally, the name of the monastery means "New Monastery". For sure, there is always something new to discover in this place. The sunset here is extremely beautiful! For me, the best time to visit this place is summer. Because the color of the church matches with the warmness of summer.
  • Noravank is hidden in the valley of nowhere with a very quite ambient. You can only come here by car or local tour. No public transport is provided here. Two flights of steps without railing lead the visitors to enter main hall of holy mother of god cathedral, symbolising the soul illuminated by God. Noravank means 'new monastery'.
  • Very beautiful monastery and the surrounding. The story of construction is interesting.
  • For those who're going to Yerevan from Goris, Noravank is a must-go, the main church has one of a kind entrance.
  • Nice old building with good nature and beautifull gorge in neighbourhood
