  • Drove to Lake Kari, but it was still under snow and ice. In those places, where already gone snow Crocuses bloom and hyacinths. It is breathtakingly beautiful! Unforgettable impressions! Dress warmer strong temperature difference. Grab your sunglasses because the strong reaction eye on patches of snow. Footwear must withstand dips in the snow, if you start your trip at the same time that we, in May.

  • Aragats, lonely extinct volcano, the highest mountain on the territory of modern Armenia and Transcaucasia. This remarkable monument of nature is located at 40° 32 ' East longitude, its Central Highlands covers an area of over 820 square kilometers. In prehistoric times the volcanic eruption, accompanied by the explosion destroyed the top of the mountain. Around irregular shaped crater is 2 x 1, 5 km deeper than 400 m — rises like a giant flower petals, four peaks: North is 4090 meters west-4080 m, Eastern-3916 metres, South-3879 m. The crater of the volcano has become glacial circus. Apical zone of Mount Aragats retains traces of ancient glaciation. Here you can find moraines, Kara, spots of the eternal snow of the glacial circuses total area about 5 square kilometers, the Highland Lakes. The largest of them is Lake Kari, lying at an altitude of 3207 meters, having in its circumference 1150 meters. Powerful rock covers medium-mountainous part of ODS.

  • In August 2017 we ascended on Aragats! An incredible experience! Today it is the highest mountain in Armenia. Very strong emotions! But the route is not easy for these tourists. The path starts from the Lake Kari, 3207 m height above sea level (Kari Leach-stone Lake). Track on the southern peak (3879 m) the easiest. But it must spend about 4-5 hours. Back and forth you can one day succeed. There are no markings, but in August in the morning a lot of people going, and with good visibility, you can navigate to other tourists. Go: the sooner the better in the morning and an experienced guide. The most difficult but also the most beautiful route to North Peak. 4090 meters height. However, people without training to visit him I do not advise. Physically challenging route. After rising to the top, you have to understand that this is just 20%. On the highest point of the Northern peaks have a metal cross, but the last 150 meters it is necessary very cautiously held on thin ridge of osypajushhihsja stones. At the bottom of steep cliffs on both sides. The second time I would definitely not gone. But happy to be visited! If you have 2 or even 3 days-you can visit the fortress of Amberd and Large waterfall Aragats-but it's already an option for hike with tents.

  • Arafat's is the biggest volcano mountain of Armenia. Of course from Yerevan Ararat is more visible. But Arafat's is also great and beautiful mountain. It has four peaks. It is 4090 m. above sea level (the northern peak). It is on 40 kilometers from Yerevan. It is in Aragatsotn province of Armenia.
  • The highest peak of Armenia. Awesome view from the peak.
  • One of the most beautiful mountains of this geographic area! Volcanic origin mountain, has 4 summits. The highest one is Northern peak. Not technically difficult, but except summer time and after late autumn, need crampons and one ice axe
  • As far as tallest peaks around 4000m go, Mr Aragats is surely the most accessible in the world. A bus ride from Yerevan to the foothills and then hitchike up the last stretch. Isolated hotel in shadow of abandoned observatory 1000m below summit. Ascent is not taxing (3hr each way) and trail, though unmarked & unmapped, is clear. Final pitch tricky loose rock but manageable with due care to any able-bodied. Akin to scaling Mount Doom in Mordor. Well worth a night in a terrible hotel.
  • The highest mount in Armenia! Amazing sights, clean air
