Cerro Bayo, Villa La Angostura

3.6
#1 of 9 in Outdoors in Villa La Angostura
Enjoy a skiing holiday with the family at Cerro Bayo, a popular ski area in the Andes. A budget alternative to some of Argentina's better known and more expensive resorts, the area offers a range of beginner and intermediate runs. Experienced skiers may not be impressed by the slopes, but the views of the surrounding landscape will more than make up for the lack of challenging runs. • Spectacular place to bike. You can go places with amazing views. Very spicy and steep descents

  • One of the most beautiful places I've ever met! Natural beauty simply fantastic! It's more peaceful than the Cerro Cathedral to practice winter sports, although it seems minor, but we never got to meet all the clues. We regret because we don't take clothes to do sports, and the snow was beautiful! But even so gave it to seize the cerro. Make sure you know, is very worthwhile.

  • While we have been other times in Villa la Angostura, we had never gone up to Cerro Bayo. The mountain to reach the base road is gravel but wide and it runs well. Access is easy and is near the center of Villa La Angostura. There are viewpoints in your course, you can take better advantage of those who will not go up with the chairlift. At the base of the chairlift, is health and comfort for visitors, as well as the sale of the tickets box. In general, place reaches its peak in winter with skiers, so it now looks quite lonely. In fact, there is no almost nothing to make that came with your vehicle, and even less for families. The cost for a couple (about $800 average) is rather high but bearable. But for a family of four or more members, guys, is very burdensome, even more so in relative terms if you have in mind that the only attraction and activity above the mountain is the panoramic view (Super that Yes). The rise in chairlift is extensive, and one day in full sun, you can enjoy the journey and progress slow and sustained, typical of this means of transport. Total silence on the empty slopes highlights the sound of bearing through each tower. Very nice. Above, there is only a bar-Cafe open with tables inside and outside on a deck-terraced balcony with rail. You can eat breaded and any other minutes in addition to sandwiches, at normal prices. The place is well decorated in a rustic style and the young officer attends with cordiality. High and single point of this visit is to admire there above the partial view but which covers a large part of the Nahuel Huapi Lake, if you walk a little until permitted by the slopes of the mountain. There is another natural viewpoint in this region of the North of the Nahuel Huapi offering this vision and less at that point. Not to be missed. It is a pity that does not enable the chairlift which continues to which we use, to reach meters of the Summit, since from there Yes you could get to see the center of Villa La Angostura and the tab should be much more impressive. Finally, we ask ourselves: wouldn't it be possible and convenient to organize any complementary activity for tourists, up on the mountain? is there the possibility of building a small hut to give additional information about the Bayo, show photos of winter activities, promote tourism with brochures, in short, do, at least, a bit more attractive period of time passed there- now, on average, is very brief and is limited to see the magnificent landscape and take some pictures, as well as take, eventually, some drink in the bar-? We do not know, but now there is no choice but to get off and... it's over. It can do nothing more. As it is, does not seem a good value for money excursion for the whole family, and thus, the company lost incomes, allow the enjoyment of more people (by lowering ticket prices), the boys get excited by chairlift (all an adventure for those who never did), and all that without increasing their fixed costs (the chairlift runs all the time, so transportation to one per turn or is full in all its capacity/hour). In reality, is one one more thing to do before reaching the base. The descent the chairlift allows you to observe and admire the mountains and valleys, with its forests, located towards the southeast of the Bayo.
