Explore Valle Tierra Mayor, a protected valley offering many walking routes through its diverse, scenic landscape. Depressed over millennia by glacial movement, the valley consists largely of bogs either side of a main river. Impressive hills and peaks line both sides of the valley, giving plenty of atmosphere to the reserve, and offering impressive scenery for budding nature photographers. Take a ride on a husky-drawn sled, starting from the valley's husky breeding center. • In July 2016 was in Tierra Mayor and how I evaluated the ride with the sled dogs rather than be a diversion, left us very unhappy seeing the terrible conditions of treatment of dogs. Now the 2018 evaluation I see that the situation remains the same.

  • We went on family already on the end of the winter, in late August of 2017. We took a ride on a sled pulled by dogs, walked on snowmobiles, and also walked a while with snowshoes. The staff is very friendly and the experiences are very nice to do, especially with kids. The prices are not cheap, but I don't think that it can be no one expected that. Highly recommended.

  • We went on the tour tour to Lake Fagnano and Escondido for dogs because at that time there was no snow, we cared about other comments elsewhere as in Ushuaia that dogs did not have bad conditions but we did not see that they were wrong more beyond that they were a little bit sad. It is a pause to meet dogs pulling sleds.

Where to stay in Ushuaia

Despite its nickname, Ushuaia is certainly not the end of the world when it comes to finding comfortable lodgings--as long as you plan ahead and reserve your room in advance. Hotels and hostels are equally crowded here during the peak season (October to March), so it's advisable to arrive with a solid reservation in hand. If you choose to visit during the winter (June to mid-September), expect to find many establishments closed for the season.
