Canal Beagle, Ushuaia

4.6
While it might sound like a television network dedicated to videos of adorable dogs, Canal Beagle is actually a strait at the extreme southern tip of South America. The channel offers excellent wildlife watching, with plenty of cormorants and sea lions populating its waters. You can take a boat cruise to explore glacial offshoots and wild southern landscapes close to the edge of the continent, beyond which only Antarctica lies. • Ride of a lifetime, in addition to the navigation being delicious, the existing catamarans offer comfort, bar and great views of the attractions that the ride offers. The weather changes quickly, go well wrapped up and protected from sudden rain.

  • A memorable sail through the Beagle Channel with Princess Cruise. The ship passed through a number of glaciers. Beautiful landscape throughout although a bit windy on the deck...Recommended
  • Hmmm, it's a channel between south America and Antarctica so your experience will really depend on the size and type of ship or boat you are in. I crossed it in a very large Norwegian car ferry. Going out the crossing was very calm and hardly noticeable. However coming back was very choppy. We did see humpback whales though and there were orcas in the distance.
  • A must do! Loved every inch of my tour from Ushuaia. You can spot sea lions, beautiful birds abd the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse .. the lighthouse of the "end of the world" :)

  • What beautiful channel mountains on both sides...spectacular

Where to stay in Ushuaia

Despite its nickname, Ushuaia is certainly not the end of the world when it comes to finding comfortable lodgings--as long as you plan ahead and reserve your room in advance. Hotels and hostels are equally crowded here during the peak season (October to March), so it's advisable to arrive with a solid reservation in hand. If you choose to visit during the winter (June to mid-September), expect to find many establishments closed for the season.
