  • When we mentioned that we were going to San Pablo and ask us advised: warned us that we were very careful with the guanacos. This rather hilarious, proved to us since we assumed that they were scary and no we would sit suddenly, we also imagined that such wildernesses were easily distinguishable. We were completely wrong, and the warning was very important. Before the access route to us was struck by the vastness of the environment, even with a windy weather at times, and at times very grey and covered with huge dark clouds. After that distance that seemed more for the lack of reference points, a second sign: Ea. 14 ROLITO, Ea. Sao Paulo 39, Cabo SAN PABLO 46. This reminds us that in the notes of travel we had scored check the general condition of the car, have enough fuel; and personally carry water and shelter, since there are no gas stations along the way. Shortly after transit provincial route to a large sign warns us that is in the works, they had already warned us that we were careful with the machines for maintenance works. We started our journey and soon it began to rain, weakly at the beginning, then getting stronger; but we decided to continue; because the beauty of the landscape and the Sun that seemed to seep far helped in the decision. The road is winding, with ups and downs, in the midst of extensive fields with hills and trees whose branches demonstrate the treatment they were subjected by winds and heavy snow; Summing up beautiful. It is a route of land whose status is somewhat variable; because, despite the fact that you as then we can see, they are continually keeping it, the climate plays them very against. To produce heavy rain water accumulates in the lowlands, eroding them, as we saw again, since sectors which were impeccable in the journey of ida to the return were quite badly. But his journey is worth, while go through the typical and narrow bridges Bailey on the rivers Chapel, brickmaker and San Pablo and the Pyrenean Brook; also distinguished the Tepi stays, Rolito, Pyrenean, Inés and San Pablo; alternate lands very sparse vegetation and thorny bushes, thickets of black matte, with the native species (ñires, lengas and guindos coihues) directly completely plagued by old beard, and the hills. During this time the rain stopped and began to see the Sun. About halfway, you can see a cute log cabin painted in blue on the right, is the police station. Throughout the tour we could see guanacos adults with their chulengos (young), we first saw them at the distance, merging with the colors of the place, but as we were going deep into the way they approached and crossed the route. After a while, we came across the machines that made the maintenance of the road. Starting to get closer to the sea, we begin to see its beautiful color turquoise, the cliffs and the pools forming seawater on the Beach the tide retiring. Finally to turn into a curve, clearly spotted the abandoned buildings of the Hosteria San Pablo, when we arrived and toured the facilities, feel admiration for the beauty of the landscape in which it is located and also indignation concurrently and sad to note the apathy and neglect that led to its abandonment and subsequent looting of the building, whose structure (walls, ceiling and openings) curiously remains in very good condition. In this place the brickmaker and San Pablo rivers form a delta framed by hills, del mar has the most beautiful color that can dream and in the midst of that beauty the silhouette of the Desdemona (boat run aground on the coast) adds a touch of adventure and mystery. Nearby are the original Lighthouse, damaged by a seismic movement that disabled it to fulfill its function and the beacon that replaced it. Sun awarded our decision, illuminating us glowing landscape; the ground was covered with dandelions deep yellow color and an extra large size that amazes us. But, although we would like to meet us, we return to route 3 and continue our trip to Rio Grande.

  • An experience that made by car, in winter, with good clothing suitable for the climate of the place. He is accessed from the national route N ° 3, entering the provincial route 24 to the East. It is in the estancia "La Tierra del Fuego" fields, I recommend arriving and travel with time and calm, is worth contemplating environment. There is a lodge abandoned along the South side of the Cape "Hostería San Pablo". If the waters are low, it is possible to get more close helmet. To take photographs is very nice sunset. This is one of the places to visit in Tierra del fuego, without a doubt!

  • It is impressing to see a ship of the dimensions of the Desdemona, run aground on the coast of Tierra del Fuego. Accessed to the place by a good gravel road consolidated which is a few kilometers passing Tolhuin. The landscape until you reach Cape is unique because it goes through many stays and are plenty of guanacos walk freely through the area. At times of low tide, you can reach the ship itself and touch it. Great place for photography lovers.

Where to stay in Ushuaia

Despite its nickname, Ushuaia is certainly not the end of the world when it comes to finding comfortable lodgings--as long as you plan ahead and reserve your room in advance. Hotels and hostels are equally crowded here during the peak season (October to March), so it's advisable to arrive with a solid reservation in hand. If you choose to visit during the winter (June to mid-September), expect to find many establishments closed for the season.
