One of the first houses in the city of Ushuaia, Antigua Casa Beban now serves as a cultural center and a place to learn about the history of this resort town. The former residence of the Beban family, it was donated to the city in the 1980s to avoid demolition. Step inside to view a small collection of family photos capturing bygone eras, as well as an art exhibit. Walk further into the house to find the small cafe nestled within and take a break with a snack and a hot drink. To visit Antigua Casa Beban on your trip to Ushuaia, use our Ushuaia vacation builder.

  • Imposing construction, beautiful and very interesting style. I didn't visit the Museum installed inside because I had information that was not interesting. We had no time to waste with uninteresting things before so many beautiful things in Ushuaia.

  • It is a symbol of the * historic city heritage * acquired by catalog to Sweden by Don Fortunato drink, of Croatian origin as his son Tomas drink and Amanda Eiras wedding gift. It was assembled between 1911 and 1913, being its original place in Maipú 857, overlooking the Bay of Ushuaia. To be an icon in the City House was ceded by the family drink in homelands for official receptions and social celebrations important dates! Until 1963 it was residence of the family. Later descendants rented it to what was the first clinical San Jorge, then it was the Hotel "Las schooners", until the family in 1993 dona to the municipality of Ushuaia. It is disarming, it was everything a challenged and moved it to the 'ride of the Roses", also called"The old settlers"walk. To the House drink be conducted a restoration crafts work in specialized workshops of Ushuaia, Buenos Aires and Punta Arenas. Re opened in 1994 is headquarters of important cultural events, exhibition center, such as pictorial, concerts, workshops, literary events, expo pictures and more, with the participation of the community in Ushuaia. It is striking to see how how the panels are isolated from the cold, with burlap or fabric that is adhered to the inside walls... The 2005 declares it "National historic landmark". Guided tours, are made in our case with the Sra Norma Paz. Opening hours from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 18 pm and the tours 11.30 hs / 2 pm / 5 pm. It is a tour of the House with family stories, see photos, documents, furniture, clippings from newspapers, etc., interesting and educational. The "Old town" project brings together in the "Paseo de las Rosas" recovered from the historic downtown old houses, put in value, as the House drink and Casa Peña, among others. I suggest that they know them, has very rich history of pioneers and inhabitants in the old Ushuaia.
