Domaine Bousquet, Tupungato

#4 of 8 in Things to do in Tupungato
Tour the sprawling vineyards of one of Argentina's most prominent wineries at Domaine Bousquet, which places special emphasis on organic production. Established in the late 1990s by the Bousquet family (hailing from Carcassonne in southern France), the winery combines both French and Argentinian knowledge and techniques to produce wines of excellent quality. Tours involve an expedition through the vineyard with information provided on the history of the family and the business, as well as insight into the winery's methods. Of course, it all culminates in a tasting session. Note that taxis from the nearest town are nearly impossible to get; instead, take one of the public buses serving the area. • This was the most interesting of all the wineries we visited in Mendoza - with a very informative and investing guide around the wine making process. If you're interested in wine - especially organic ...  more »

  • We went to lunch in this bodega, there were two groups, one was on the inside and our balcony, outdoor area. The view is very beautiful, but it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Should have put fans close to the table to ease the heat that bothered at all, it was a general comment in the group. The discomfort worsened with the delay in attending to every dish served. As we were on the outside, the waiters would come a few times and took, which was not attentive. Because until the water was over quickly by the heat and had to wait to request another. About the dishes, was reasonable. The main course (veal fillet) left much to be desired (the point of mine came all right, but the meat was not tender and was really nerve. Experience other well superior in Mendoza. The point of other people came wrong too, including my boyfriend, and others of the Group commented on the same issue: hardtack and wrong points). Anyway, unfortunately it was not a good experience.

  • The main restaurant is set in a scenic location. Food is very good, fillet was cooked to perfection. Very attentive and helpful service. Would recommend
  • Nice winery with a beautiful backdrop of the Andes Mountains. Make sure you make reservations before you show up. They have 3 tasting options that start at 200 pesos for the entry level wines and up to a pricey 400 pesos for their premiere wines. Each tasting comes with three wines, though the mid-tier option also includes a sweet Malbec. The wines we're good and happy to see they're organic, but didn't enjoy the wine as much as some of the smaller Maipu wineries we visited.
  • Great food and location!!
  • We had lunch at the restaurant, Gaia. The meal was by far the best we had in Mendoza.
  • Great tour guide, she had expertise and was very pleasant sharing a wealth of knowledge!
