Valle de Los Altares, Trelew

(4.6/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Explore the huge picturesque red-yellow cliffsides and canyons at Valle de Los Altares. Giant rock formations make up the valley's topography, set within an arid region of Patagonia almost completely bare of vegetation. Look for numerous sites where Welsh colonizers once dwelled in the area. Consider taking an informative guided tour of the valley; you'll gain a better understanding of the land and its history, including the rock markings made here millennia ago by indigenous peoples. Pack plenty of water for your trip. Put Valle de Los Altares on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Trelew trip itinerary maker.

  • As we, who drives the car in Bariloche to the Valdes peninsula, comes about halfway through the Valle de Los Altares. This is an impressive rock landscape in the middle of the Argentine pampas. The contrast between the almost desolate landscape and the mountains of snippy liked us very well, in many places, there are also beautiful small lakes, such as green oases in the nowhere appear.

  • Returning from esquel to Puerto Madryn, traveled the route No. 25 and had opportunity to observe the so-called "route of the altars", which runs along the Chubut River. Constituted by formations of rock landforms, presenting paintings, being weak and thinning vegetation. A wide range of colours that depend on its geological strata is presented in its forms. All this system is declared as "Area Natural protected"

  • Very nice place, but I think that there should be signs that provide background that explains how did? in what date? of that material are made these rocks? and I also think that it should be fenced, as we see that travelers approaching and botan garbage; there are walls with graffiti.
