Museo Naval de la Nacion, Tigre

4.4
Learn about the history of Argentina’s navy through artifacts and dioramas at Museo Naval de la Nacion. At this museum along the waterfront, start your tour by exploring the sailing age of Argentine naval ships. The second section covers the navy from the 20th century and the modern era. View dioramas of the ships’ interiors, which are particularly well done. Other displays include naval weapons, paintings, sculptures, ship models, flags, and uniforms. Be aware exhibits are posted in Spanish without English translations. Use our Tigre route builder site to add Museo Naval de la Nacion and other attractions to your Tigre vacation plans.

  • Find all about the naval history and part of aeronautics. Great scale models, of different vessels and their origins with very complete information. I recommend not going with very young children, since the route is long and boring for them.

  • Very good experience. Very complete! (maybe you are missing some material on planes, but is understandable, for the space). Even have a stuffed Penguin! The weapons (bombs, mines and torpedoes) room is great. The entrance fee is very (very) affordable (40 pesos in November of 2017, I believe that you do not purchase or 2 l of soda). For those who like all this (the naval) wave, it is highly recommended.

  • Great Place to learn History
  • Nothing. Couldn't see it. Supposed to open at 830am but after MUCH walking and asking where it was (there were no signs) I finally discovered it didn't open till 12pm. But my ferry left then so I couldn't see it. Please correct the website or open when stated on website.
  • Ok
  • Incredible, a naval museum sounds like something interesting for you? In general, the answer is no, but the museum guides have everything with as much passion and interest that can make even the most selfless find something that enforce the visit worthwhile. They have a wide variety of models of historical pieces, boats, naval weapons, paintings, and even Vitto Dumas boat! The only thing that I regret is having gone with little time. The Museum is free and I think back to continue learning.

Where to stay in Tigre

Tigre and its delta surroundings are chock-full of choices for accommodations thanks to their popularity with visitors both foreign and domestic. The city center around the Tigre River features a number of smaller-scale apartments and family-run bed and breakfasts, while the areas closer to the delta itself are more beach-oriented. If you're looking to enjoy the area's famously lush nature, check out a "cabana"--these rustic cabins are omnipresent in the forests and marshes around town, and allow you to wake up with the canals and trees of the delta right at your doorstep. Since many of these countryside accommodations are only accessible by boat, they usually provide most meals. Keep in mind that more rustic charm in this case can also mean hordes of mosquitos at night.
