Outdoor Activity
Explore a vast network of waterways and canals at Delta El Tigre, one of the region's most important former trading ports. Formed by the combination of the Parana River and several smaller streams, the delta long served as an outlet for the wood and fruit trade from the interior. Hop aboard one of the delta's many boat tours to explore the lush nature up close and get a glimpse of colonial-era mansions, waterfront settlements, and other landmarks along the way. Alternatively, you can rent a kayak or canoe to paddle along at your own pace, an activity popular with many weekend-trippers from the capital. • I loved this tour! We did part time, with the ride bought at launch (lowest price I found) I bought the night before for the next day and it all worked out. The van came to take the schedule combined. Melissa tab was very nice and requests. The ride is beautiful, we spent 30 minutes in the port of fruits (the time was short), passes next to an amusement park, a House surrounded by glass and the first Tiger Casino. On the way back, the van let us or the Galerías Pacífico, Obelisk or Embassy of France near the Recoleta. The only thing I was wishing it was the alfajor that win, too small and no chocolate.

  • The boat trip on the river is beautiful, with its wonderful homes at water's edge. Going to Tiger is a mortal sin not to do this tour. Detail: there are several kiosks that sell walk next to the River Station. Choose a tour that gives a full turn (1:00 long). Get to Tigre from Buenos Aires is extremely easy: go to the Retiro train station and take the train direct to Tiger (12 pesos in July/2017). Detail: there's a subway station that leads inside the train station. If I'm not mistaken a ticket costs 7.50 pesos. IE: for a measly 19.50 pesos (about R$4,00 in July 2017) you do the whole route and will have the opportunity to see how the suburbs of Buenos Aires, outside the tourist areas (both the station as the train seemed 100% safe). Note: there is the option of train de la Costa, but this I have not used. Note 2: coming soon, in Tiger there are kiosks that sell tours whose first output is the 10:00, for instances, where if there's day lunch, horseback riding and other outdoor activities. In this case however, it's going to be hard to wander by museums, for the tour victory and the harbor of fruits (a Tuesday).

Where to stay in Tigre

Tigre and its delta surroundings are chock-full of choices for accommodations thanks to their popularity with visitors both foreign and domestic. The city center around the Tigre River features a number of smaller-scale apartments and family-run bed and breakfasts, while the areas closer to the delta itself are more beach-oriented. If you're looking to enjoy the area's famously lush nature, check out a "cabana"--these rustic cabins are omnipresent in the forests and marshes around town, and allow you to wake up with the canals and trees of the delta right at your doorstep. Since many of these countryside accommodations are only accessible by boat, they usually provide most meals. Keep in mind that more rustic charm in this case can also mean hordes of mosquitos at night.
