Often called the "End of the World" because of its position on the southernmost tip of South America, the expanding city of Ushuaia serves as both a busy commercial port and attractive tourist hub. In a location matched by few other urban centers, Ushuaia holidays allow visitors to access the untamed landscapes of Tierra del Fuego. The town itself remains a jumble of narrow streets and low-rise buildings overshadowed by the imposing Martial Mountains. Many vessels bound for Antarctica stop here to refuel and restock their supplies, while a growing number of tourists vacation in Ushuaia for the hiking, sailing, skiing, and kayaking opportunities just a stone's throw from this cozy urban base. To arrange what you want to do in Ushuaia, use our Argentina trip itinerary planning website.

Where to stay in Ushuaia

Despite its nickname, Ushuaia is certainly not the end of the world when it comes to finding comfortable lodgings--as long as you plan ahead and reserve your room in advance. Hotels and hostels are equally crowded here during the peak season (October to March), so it's advisable to arrive with a solid reservation in hand. If you choose to visit during the winter (June to mid-September), expect to find many establishments closed for the season.
